Department of Culture Supports Kenya Music Week 2007

KENYA MUSIC WEEK believes that music is a means to learn, organise and motivate. Therefore, the theme for this
4th Annual KENYA MUSIC WEEK - ‘Music for Positive Living’, is a refreshing approach that will prompt us to dig
deeper and apply Kenyan music to effect positive change in our own lives and the lives of our community.

Through KENYA MUSIC WEEK 2007’s free Educational Workshops we aim to:

  • Promote the use of music as an entry point for youth to adopt a positive lifestyle; by encouraging them to start their
own initiatives to improve their community, create a better quality of life and be social entrepreneurs in their own right.
  • Highlight the various ways in which the Kenya Music Industry is effecting positive living - be it through using music
and clown therapy to aid in the treatment of children or using music to alleviate poverty.
  • Avail information to Artists on how using music for civic education is not only of a social benefit, but can also be a
    financial gain to them.
